The Topeka Golden Giants won tonight's game against the visiting Chillicothe Mudcats. The Giants led throughtout, thanks in part to a 2-run home run by Adam Davey, but the Mudcats managed to load the bases in the top of the 9th. At that point Kurt Spomer came out of the bullpen for the Giants and got the final two outs without allowing the tying run. Final score was Giants 3- Mudcats 2.
By my count, the Giants are now 12-5 in the MINK and 12-6 overall. Their next game is tomorrow night in Chillicothe, again facing the Mudcats. (Webcast should be available, with the
game doubleheader starting at
7:00 5:00.) They then travel to Clarinda to face the A's on Wednesday night, then return home for a non-league matchup with Junction City.
On Saturday July 4th the Giants will face the Sedalia Bombers starting a 6:00 p.m. This game was previously scheduled for 7 p.m. but moved up to insure it would end before the Lake Shawnee fireworks display that night.
