A yet to be named team is starting up in Dodge City. The plan is to have the team play as an independent NBC-affiliated semi-pro team this year, and then join the planned Southwestern League (which is planned as an independent professional minor league) in 2006. The Southwestern League (being the latest reincarnation of the failed Arizona-Mexico league) has also considered teams in Amarillo, Garden City, Pueblo and Santa Fe. I've also seen this league refered to as the "Longhorn League".
Butler County is the largest county in Kansas, and apparently it's big enough for two NBC teams: The established El Dorado Broncos and the new Butler County Cubs, who will play on the high school field in Augusta.
