Live from Sedalia

Finally made it to a road game. The internet's pretty slow out here, so updates won't be as frequent. I'll mostly stick to giving the score. (Update: Nevermind. Found wi-fi.)

Beautiful old ballpark. Wooden grandstand, lots of foul territory. Short dimensions though. 290 to right, 375 to center, 310 to left.

3 up, 3 down for the Giants in the top of the first.

Keith Picht will be the starting pitcher for Topeka.

Bombers go down 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the first.

No runs, no hits for Topeka in the top of the second.

Bottom of the second. Bombers get a hit, followed by a inning ending double play. Nice play by Tanner Witt at third base.

Top of the third. Drew Wilkinson reaches base via a leadoff walk, but a double play and a ground out end the inning. Still 0-0.

Bottom of the third. The Bombers score two runs via a walk, a single, and a Giants' error. 2-0 Sedalia.

Top of the fourth. Giants get a leadoff single from Quinn Boyer but leave him stranded. Still 2-0.

Bottom of the fourth. A series of Giant errors leads to two more Bomber runs. 4-0 Sedalia.

Top of the fifth. Giants get a baserunner when Aaron Rea is hit by a pitch, but leave him stranded. Still 4-0.

Bottom of the fifth. Bombers get a run off an RBI double by Patton. Casey Pierce is warming up in the Giants' bullpen. 1 out. ...but Picht gets out of the inning without further damage.

No hits, no runs for the Giants in the top of the sixth. Still 5-0 Sedalia. Picht goes back in to pitch the bottom half of the inning.

Bottom of the sixth. Bombers get an RBI double by Matty Johnson, followed by a two-run home run off the bat of Travis McComack. It's 8-0 Sedalia.

No runs, no hits in the top of the seventh. 8-0 at the stretch. Casey Pierce goes in to pitch the bottom of the seventh.

Bombers go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh.

Top of the eighth. Stroth reaches base via a walk, as does Boyer. Stroth advances to third on a wild pitch. But the inning ends on a groundout at that point. Still 8-0.

Bottom of the eighth. Bombers get runners via a single and a hit batsman. Inning ends on a unassisted double play by Cyr.

Top of the ninth. Haslett strikes out. Cyr walks. Rea walks. Kivett grounds into a fielder's choice. Rea out at second, Cyr moves to third. Cyr scores on a passed ball. Kivett moves to second. Wilkenson goes down swinging. That's the game.

Giants had one run on one hit and four errors. Sedalia had eight runs on eight hits.
