Giants take second at Tournament of Champions

The Topeka Golden Giants got to the finals of the Nevada Tournament of Champions the hard way, fighting through the entire loser's bracket. In the end, they fell to the Nevada Griffons for a second time, and came in second.

From the Topeka Capital-Journal:
While coming up short of a tournament title -- falling 11-10 to the Nevada Griffons in the championship game Monday in Nevada, Mo. -- coach Daniel Esposito believes the Golden Giants may have turned a corner.

"Teams have to go through stuff like this to become closer and come together," Esposito said Tuesday.

"I'm hoping that after going through some adversity to come back and finish second in the tournament , it will catapult us into the second half of our conference season."

The tourney games make Topeka 13-11 overall, but they remain 5-7 in league play. The Giants are currently in 5th place in the MINK.
