Topeka, Kansas - The Kansas City T-Bones will be playing the Grand Prairie Texas Air Hogs in an exhibition game at Lake Shawnee on Wednesday night, May 5th at 7:05 PM. A Thursday matinee game 1:05 PM will follow, May 6th.
This is the first professional baseball game played in Topeka since 1961 when the Topeka Reds played their final game in Topeka. The Reds were a farm club affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds baseball organization and played at the old Community Ballpark in North Topeka.
The Topeka Golden Giants and Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Foundation are promoting the event to Topeka baseball enthusiasts, young and old, as a prelude to expanded summer baseball at Lake Shawnee. A modern new sports complex at Lake Shawnee will be officially dedicated in June of 2010. The Topeka Golden Giants will play their 23 game home schedule and post season tournament play at Lake Shawnee.

Popped up to Topeka for the two exhibition games. Well DONE, Topeka! NICE facility, NICE people, NICE weather, NO BEER! Thoroughly enjoyable! And, now, I suspect I'll be returning to actually see the Golden Giants...
